Chocolate Oat Bars

A great snack when you want a bit of a chocolate hit without the dip! Perfect for lunch boxes too.

Makes: approx 20 bars

Allergen info: oats, seeds, dairy (can use a different milk)

Ingredients

  • 1 banana

  • 1 medium egg

  • 4 tbsp honey

  • 2 tsp vanilla essence

  • 400 ml milk

  • 275g oats

  • 25g milled flaxseed (optional)

  • 25g cocoa powder

  • 40g dark chocolate for drizzling

Method

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C / 375°F.

  • Line a medium baking tin with baking paper.

  • Mix all the ingredients together by hand or in an electric mixer.

  • Pour the mixture into the prepared tin.

  • Bake for 30 minutes.

  • Remove from the oven and allow to cool on a wire rack.

  • Cut into squares or bars, then drizzle with the melted chocolate.

  • Let the chocolate set (you can place it in the fridge to speed this up).

  • Enjoy

You may want to add raisins or chocolate chunks into the mix for kids.

In the fridge: Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.

In the freezer: Wrap individually or store in an airtight container for up to 3 months. Defrost in the fridge overnight or at room temperature for a few hours before eating.
