Catch. Challenge. Change.

In this blog I want to talk about something that truly shapes our health journey - mindset.

Mindset is simply the beliefs we hold that drive our thoughts, actions, habits, and eventually our lifestyle.

But often our mindset isn’t always based on truth. It can be shaped by past experiences, disappointment, or things we’ve always believed about ourselves.

You might recognise some of these:

“I’ve tried everything.”

“I can’t stick to anything.”

“It works for others, but not for me.”

“I always fail.”

“I’m just not disciplined.”

If someone else said those things to you, you’d probably challenge them! But we often let these thoughts script our story, quietly running in the background and stopping us from moving forward.

These are what we call limiting beliefs, and they affect so many areas of life: health, weight, relationships, even money. They lead to self-sabotage, extreme thinking, or ignoring small wins. We set a ceiling for ourselves and assume we can’t go beyond it.

But we can. The beauty of being a Christian is that we have an Absolute Truth to live by.

Next time you observe a limiting belief, try this tool called the 3Cs:

Catch it – Notice the thought: “I can’t stick to anything.”

Challenge it – Ask, “Is that really true? Haven’t I stuck with other things before?”

Change it – Choose a new belief: “I can build habits that last- with God’s help.”

It’s not about pretending. It’s about choosing beliefs that move you forward instead of hold you back.

Over time, with practice, these new thoughts become your default. Your brain literally rewires. You can probably already think of a time where you used to believe something, and now you don’t. That’s transformation.

As Christians, we have an amazing gift: the mind of Christ and the truth of God’s Word.

God invites us to:

“Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” (Romans 12:2)

“Take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ.” (2 Corinthians 10:5)

“Forget the former things… I am doing a new thing.” (Isaiah 43:18–19)

“Think about whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable…” (Philippians 4:8)

Your thoughts can change. Your story can change.

This week, could you spot just one limiting belief that’s been holding you back?

Catch it. Challenge it. Change it.

You might be surprised at what happens next.

Blessings on your health journey,
