Nut Free Snack Balls - base and variations

Nut-free makes them perfect for snacks for kids and adults alike. Practice with these flavours and then experiment with your own!

Makes: approx 15 balls

Allergen info: eggs, oats

Ingredients

  • 100g oats

  • 80g chopped medijool dates

  • 1 tbsp honey

  • 1 tbsp desiccated coconut

    Plus:

    • For Gingerbread flavour: 2 tsp ground ginger, 1 tsp ground cinnamon, ½ tsp mixed spice, 1 tbsp honey

    • For Chocolate Orange flavour: ½ tsp orange essence, 2 tbsp cocoa powder

    • For Mint Choc flavour: 1 tsp mint essence, 2 tbsp cocoa powder

    • For Apple Pie flavour: 25g chopped dried apple, 1 tsp ground cinnamon, ½ tsp mixed spice

Method

  • Mix all the ingredients in a bowl using your hands or a spoon.

  • Roll into approximately 15 balls.

  • If the mixture feels too dry, add 1 tsp of water.

  • Chill in the fridge for 1 hour or set in the freezer for 10 minutes.

  • Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week, or freeze for up to 1 month.

  • Let them come to room temperature for a few minutes before eating if frozen.
