By Being on the Altar...

At our retreat in May 2026 at the House of Bread, we were blessed to welcome Amy Summerfield from the Kyria Network to be our speaker.

One phrase kept echoing through her talks:

“How much more?”

Jesus said:

“If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, HOW MUCH MORE will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!”
— Matthew 7:11

Sometimes, do we live spiritually hungry not because God is distant… but because we stop expecting more?

More peace.
More wisdom.
More strength.
More healing.
More freedom.
More intimacy with Him.

We can become so used to surviving, striving, rushing, and carrying everything ourselves that we forget we have a Father who delights in giving good gifts.

One of the questions we reflected on at the retreat was:

Where do you currently need “more” of God?

And what do you currently need “less” of to get there?

Less distraction?
Less hurry?
Less fear?
Less scrolling?
Less overthinking?
Less self-reliance?

Sometimes the “more” we long for begins with gently laying something else down.

So this week:

What do you want more of from God?

And what do you need to lay down to make room?
