I’d love to invite you to pause for a moment today, not to tick off another item on your to-do list, but to have a meaningful conversation.
In fact, four of them.
Set aside 15 minutes, grab a notebook and a cuppa, and walk with me through a simple but powerful self-coaching reflection. It might be just what your body, soul, or spirit needs today.
Step 1: What's on your heart?
Take 3 minutes to write freely about a current challenge or situation in your life.
It could be physical, spiritual, emotional, or practical.
Something that feels like a block, a burden, or even just something you can’t quite see past.
Just get it out on paper; no need to edit or fix anything yet.
Step 2: Chat with a friend
Now imagine you’re sitting with your closest, wisest friend, in your favourite coffee shop or on their comfy sofa.
What would they say to you about this situation?
Kind, honest, insightful words… maybe with a little humour or tough love?
Write down what they might say.
Step 3: Meet your coach
Next, imagine you’ve booked a session with a brilliant life coach (you’ve even paid £150!).
They won’t give you advice, but they will ask great questions.
Think like a coach. Ask yourself some great open-ended questions:
Why is this important?
Why?
Is there anything that is distracting you from dealing with it?
Why is that?
How would life be different if this were 'sorted'?
What is really going on here?
What’s in your control?
What's not?
What would 'success' in this area look like?
Spend another 3 minutes jotting down anything that surfaces.
Step 4: Time with God
Where do you feel close to God? Imagine yourself there (or go there if you can!)
Be still. Imagine sharing your situation with God… and listening.
What might He say to you?
How might He look at you?
How might He hold you?
What truth does He want to remind you of?
What promise is for you right now?
Write it down. Let His presence guide your reflection.
Pull it together
Now go back through everything you wrote.
Highlight or pull out three key things - they might be:
Bible verses
Action steps
New perspectives
Encouraging truths
Something to pin up on your fridge or mirror
And finally…
What’s your next step?
Even if it’s small, write it down.
Take that next gentle step forward.
I hope that this exercise blessed you!
